“An army of Saddam Husseins”… in Bihar
People in Luckanow, a village in the Indian province of Bihar, are renaming their children Saddam Hussein in honor of the “martyred” Iraqi dictator.
Random musings of a law student from the Midwest about to enter the “real world”.

I would say it’s a bad thing. Many people have come to see Saddam Hussein as a symbol of resistance to Western (particularly American) hegemony and have lionized him as such. Only Allah knows what was in his heart when he died, but the many atrocities he committed during his life shouldn’t be forgotten (and neither should the fact that, despite recent events, he committed many of them with active American assistance). This kind of reaction is a prime example of emotional thinking.
